“A little bit of Slovenia on this side of the ocean” would best describe the camp (or the ‘Farma’ as it is commonly known).
The camp was started in 1958 by the early immigrants from Slovenia. Since everybody was new to Canada, it was planned that this would be a great retreat area to congregate on weekends.
These grounds in southern Ontario provide people of Slovenian heritage a place where they can gather to socialize, worship, play and enjoy each other’s company. The events nurture Slovenian culture and faith for all generations from the very young to the very old.
Throughout the 50+ years since its inception, volunteers have continued to put in strong efforts to ensure the grounds are maintained, events are organized, and food is prepared.
Daily visitors are welcome and admission is very reasonable. Although the camp is less than an hour’s drive from Toronto, members and guests “camp” in tents, trailers or cottages throughout the spring, summer and fall. Access for winter activities is available to members.
Participation in sporting events is of particular interest to youth. There’s something happening throughout the summer. The calendar outlines sporting and other events that would be of interest to all. Besides organized sporting activities, there's also swimming, volleyball, balina (bocce), a children's playground, and hiking trails
The pages on this website offer a small look at the activities, events and facilities.
